EXHIBITION

Kabuki is a traditional Japanese form of theater-play. It was originated by a performance by Okuni, a shrine maiden in Kyoto around 1603 . However, in 1629, women were ruled out from the stage by goverment due to the occasional moral hazard, leaving only men to perform. And the current kabuki style played by only men came to perfection during the Genroku period (1688-1704).

Kabuki still has great appeal among modern Japanese people because it combines lots of elements. The story, dancing, music, costume, make-up, stage settings. And it also has various performance styles and techniques .

This exhibition was held in 15-24 January 2004 both at GALEERY HOUSE MAYA and at MAYA2 .

It won a reputation and generated various commercial works.
